My discount ends in September 2024. When I agreed to the contract on the phone I was told there would be no increase in the price until the contract ended. This was a blatant lie if prices go up in April. Also the fact you cannot tell anyone how much the increase will be until after they are able to cancel without penalty is a farce.
I'd agree it is somewhat of a farce. Why force us to make a decision 6 months ahead of this baked-in increase in mid-contract prices? VM have stated that they intend to use the RPI figure announced in February 2024 (quote below from my email) so why not give mid-contract customers the option from that point in mid-February 2024 (until the end of March 2024) to decide what to do from April 2024?
From VM email that I received:
The RPI rate will be the amount that’s announced in the preceding February of that year, so you’ll be able to work out the exact increase from that date
I really do hope that FTTP becomes another option to consider in my area soon as the FTTP rollout map shows that they are building in my exchange but that has been the case since early spring. The trouble is that many/most/all the providers have now seemingly got these same increases baked-in but at least FTTP in your area gives more bargaining power especially at the end of a contract.👍
