New contract was made when moving house and not made aware!

As title says.

We moved house in July 2023 and a new contract was issued without being told that a new contract would be issued due to moving. I rang to cancel the contract today, as we no longer wish to continue with Virgin Media. We would be out of contract by now as we joined in 2022. During the phone call I was told we would have to pay £600 fee to be disconnected and was also told that it is "Normal" for a new contract to start when moving home..

I have read in multiple places here that this is not true and a new contract shouldn't have be issued when moving home, if there are no changes to the package. We have not changed our package.

Please can someone advise on what to do.

Thanks

Hi AaronicUK,

Thanks for taking the time to contact us via the Community. It's lovely having you on board with us in the Forums.

We're sorry to hear a new contract was issued when moving home. This is something that is done however usually a contract suppression is done and the term is amended to the same date as your previous contract at your previous address. I can only apologise that this wasn't done.

This is something we can certainly check for you but in order to do that I will need to confirm some information with you to pass security. I have sent you a direct message to allow us to do this with you in a private space. If you are using a PC/Laptop then you can just click on the little ✉ at the top right-hand side of the page to access your inbox. If you are on a mobile/tablet device then instead click on the little circle icon in the top right then select 'Messages'. 😊

Thanks,
