I manually paid the exact amount labelled on my Virgin Media bill due October 14th into my account on October 10th, but the morning of October 14th, I was charged directly out of my Direct Debit account for the same amount again for that bill.
The bill says it has been paid with the amount taken from the Direct Debit, but the credit for the amount paid manually remains on my account. Will these funds be used when my next bill arrives, or will it charge my Direct Debt again instead and not use the manual payment money?
If it will in fact charge my Direct Debit again, is there a way for me to get a refund for the manual payment?

Hi guymbo,
Thank you for taking the time to reach out to us in our community and welcome, sorry to hear you have made a manual payment and the active Direct Debit has still taken the payment, we understand this is not what you expected and that you've now paid double.
When a Direct Debit is set up, as soon as the bill is generated the amount billed is set straight away and sits there waiting for the bank to pay it, even if a payment is made after this point it will not change the amount taken and will just sit on you're account as a credit, we can get this credited back to your card which takes 3 to 5 working days or you can speak to your bank and under the Direct Debit guarantee ask to raise an indemnity claim.
I have sent you an invite into a private chat so we can get further information and arrange a refund to your card if preferred, you can also leave the credit on the account to cover the next bill, if a credit is on the account the Direct Debit would only be taken for any amounts over the credit, please look out for the white envelope to accept.
Regards
Paul.
