I have been very stupid.I got an email from Virgin saying that my virgin bill was now available and it seemed excatly like all previous emails about bills, except that I had to login.I assumed that this was just extra security and did so.On checking I have found out that it was an individual called [MOD EDIT: PERSONAL INFORMATION REMOVED] to whom I had sent my passwrod in error. What do I do to change the password immediately?
Help please!

Change your passwords and security questions on MVM and associated email address
https://www.virginmedia.com/help/security/why-is-my-virgin-media-email-hacked
If you have not done so already, this may involve you providing a third party email address for 2FA
If you have used the same email/password combo and security questions across other online sites and services, change those as well because scammers will routinely try out a particular email/password combo in lots of places once they have access to that info.

Hi @craibh thanks for posting and welcome back to our community.
Sorry to hear that you may have been compromised. And for any negative impact it may have on you. I can see that you're already liaising with my colleague Matthew. I will therefore leave you in his very capable hands.
