Cancelling TNT Sport

Hi,

Having a bit of a nightmare trying to get a good deal as I am about to be out of contract and current discounts are ending.

I am being offered (online) to renew what I have for £107 (£136 if I do nothing, currently paying £101). This contains TNT Sport which I don't want. If I re-contract with TNT Sport included can I cancel TNT Sport straight away and save £18? Or is it part of the price I am being offered? If I try to customise my package offer I can add things but I cannot take TNT Sport away.

Thanks in advance.

Ian.

Hi there @G_antelope

Thank you so much for your post and welcome to the community forums, it's great to have you here.

I am so sorry for the confusion regarding your deal, does is show TNT listed as an add on or is it part of the bundle package?

Hi,

Thanks for the relply. It says I have Maxit TV with 6 channel packs. Below it says channel packs are on a 30 day rolling contract and it has Sky Sports, Sky Sports HD and TNT selected. I don't know what the other 3 packs are. I guess that 30 days bit is important.

Thanks.

Does show TNT as park of the package? It is above the selection of packs one of which is TNT Sport which is ticked.

TNT won't be included with any new deals even if you're recontracting.

My guess is the £107 is for your a for every thing you have now minus TNT sports.

I'm in a very similar situation myself I currently pay around £87 and the online quote is £107 too but there is a line which says "just a heads up, TNT sports is no longer included in our bundles".

Good luck with the renegotiations.

Hi,

Just thought I'd conclude what happended here. You were right. Even though the webpage says re-contract for £107 and keep everything you have this not true. Going to the next step and viewing the pre-contract there is no sign of TNT Sports. In my case there was no mention of my second TV box either. As I was getting nowhere with retentions I opted for this offer. The actual contract says TNT Sport has been removed but the extra box is showing.

I am disappointed. In the past VM have been great to deal with and offered good discounts when you call but not this time. I was hung up on during one call as I wouldn't agree to an offer that included a mobile SIM i didn't want and retentions no longer seem to have any power to help. I would cancel and move on but I actually like the TV box and the broadband is solid for me.

Good luck everyone with your dealings.

Ian.

On this point, would there have been harm in taking a mobile SIM? The extra account with O2 may be unwanted admin I agree, but if VM were offering to pay you to have a product - the alternative view is to say "thankyou" and file the product as necessary.

Hi @japitts,

Thanks for your reply. Regarding the deal with the mobile SIM the reason I was dismissing it was because at that point we were discussing options and the advice was to take it and then cancel it within 14 days. This seemed to be wasteful and I was suspicious that if I did this it might void the deal altogether. I had also heard horror stories of people struggling to cancel O2 contracts set up in this way so I just wanted to avoid it. It felt like it was more important for the lady on the phone that I took this deal than it was that it was a good fit for me.

I have re-contracted, albeit with a sour taste from the experience but I guess VM are not the company they were regarding customer interactions. I have recommended then to friends in the past, not so keen to do so anymore.

Ian.

I am sorry to hear this and that you now think this,

We do give you the best price the system lets us, we also have no manual control over the pricing.

Did you manage to find a good deal?
