Cancellation of contract / returning as new customer

Tuning in

I am going to cancel my VM contract which expires on 12/09/24.

For a number of reasons I may not move to Sky etc. but how long would I have to wait before VM would treat me as a new customer should I decide I want to return?

Thanks

Hi DuffDuff,

Thank you for your post. We're sorry to hear you're looking to leave.

If you did leave it would be 90 days before you can re-join.

Or apparently- if you have a partner/person who lives with you they can rejoin straightway as a new customer?

True but there would be no seamless transition. There would likely be a break in the continuity of the connection of an uncertain length. All kit would have to be returned. All TV recordings would be lost. VM email addresses would go etc.

I would like to do the same. I have been with VM for years but they really screw over loyal customers. I am paying £90 per month for 125mb broadband, a small TV package and the phone line. New customers can get 1gb broadband, 230+ channels, including Sky Cinema and Sports, phone and unlimited mobile data for £85. It is absolutely ridiculous!

That's a terrible price for that bundle. I can only assume that you are on an undiscounted rolling contract. If so you can call in to see what deals are available (or you can cancel and switch provider).

Its definitely 90 days to be classed as new customer and get any new customer free gifts that might be offered from time to time, but for cashback sites like topcashback.co.uk and quidco.com you usually need to have left a year to get the cashback for signing up again.

Historically, I think some people have re-joined in their own name again after 60 days, but I don't think they qualify for any free gifts that might be offered as part of a package promotion. This might be void now anyway, but 90 days is the "norm".
