I answered this non ringingi CV21 (router) phone problem over a year ago and the reason is simple .
A standard Telephone Master socket has a Capacitor in it which is necessary for a ring tone to work.
I used an adapter which was common with ISDN sysems which was a Data /Voice splitter.
I just plugged that adapter into the router and any telephone that I have tried works perfectly.when plugged into the Voice socket.
Master sockets technically may only be installed by telephone engineers but ISDN splitterrs have no such restriction.

RJ11 to BT socket adaptors with a ring capacitor are also available via eBay link here
It is going to be the more ancient BT telephones that require a ring capacitor and 3 wire connection.
A modern cordless phone or desk speaker phone will only use a 2 wire connection.

I recently moved from a home used a dedicated virgin landline. In my new property it is connected to the router with a virgin provided adapter and I have the same issue (it doesn't ring).
The phone is does not use an external power supply and if needs an adapter with a ring capacitor and 3 wire connection why didn't virgin supply an adapter without it?
