Hi, I am trying to port my previous number (which was with virgin media) to my new account which is still with virgin media, as i didnt renew, i left then returned as a new customer within 1 week.. Advisor stated this can't be done? Both accounts were/are in my name, same address, I just want my old landline back. Can someone help?

Hi @Begum61

Thanks for posting and welcome to the community.

You have been advised correctly, this cannot be done as it's not a number Port but a move from one account to another which we do not offer that option.

Best wishes.

OFCOM has agreed the porting facility for the sole purpose of a customer taking their number with them from one provider to another. You are not changing provider. You can keep the same number if you change the name on an existing account. However, you have terminated your account & started another, so this also does not fulfill the criteria either.

… and I thought you couldn’t cancel then rejoin quickly to get new customer discounts or wouldn’t everyone do it?

Some have managed, others haven't.

In this case the OP has succeeded, but there is a sting in the tail.

My name is NOT Alessandro. That's just a tag Virginmedia sticks on some contributors. Please ignore it.
