I joined Virgin last month and got a landline in my package. I'd like to keep my old landline number which was with Vodafone, the line was plugged in to the Vodafone router.
I just spoke to Virgin and they said they can only do it if the line is still active, but I believe my Vodafone package ended today actually.
On the Ofcom site though it says:
"If you want to keep your number, let your new provider know. You can request to keep your old phone number for free even if you have already cancelled your previous service (as long as you request this within one month of cancelling)."
So it seems Virgin are saying the service must be active, but Ofcom are saying it can be within a month of cancelling the service.
Can anyone offer advice please? Thank you.

Hi bruwill44,
Thanks for posting and welcome to our community 😊
Sorry to hear there's some confusion over porting your line, we do require the line to be active for us to port in.
So I can get a few more details from you, I've popped you over a private message.

When you signed up with VM you should have requested the number porting, and a PAC request would have been send to Vodafone. However this PAC request usually works only if the number is still active on your account.
