For the past few weeks my home phone has stopped working on incoming and outgoing calls all we get is an engaged tone, we have not changed our phone and it has always worked properly.

I have seen that others have had the same problem and i know it is not our phone at fault

can anyone help please

I'm sorry to see that you've been having issues with your landline service over the last few weeks, we'll certainly be happy to help. 

Just to confirm, have you been able to check our service page here to see if this is due to any known issues in the area? If not, you can also sign into the page via your My VM details to run a fault test with your equipment.
