Hello, I have been told today that 0800 numbers are no longer free on virgin media is this correct.

Who by? A bloke in the pub? Offshore customer services? Mystic Rose at the end of the pier?

Either way it's codswallop as far as the current landline tariff card is concerned

080x calls are free to call from any UK ohone, landline or mobile. This is a regulatory requirement.

I was told today by virgin when i changed my package

I can confirm what Cardiffman and Jappits have advised you is correct, 0800 numbers are free.

Because they outsource their customer support to third parties like Capgemini who don't have a clue!
