This is being a continual, burden to my online social community as its incredible difficult to get into xbox party chat, and phone calls to virgin Media seem to be getting nowhere fast.

This needs sorting, and has been an ongoing issue for about two months now since there was a breakage on our local hub.

These problems can be fixed by a better router with 1Gb ports and hub in modem mode

Hi @trvrhalliday

Welcome back to the community forums

Sorry to hear you're having issues with accessing some features on the Xbox.

Is it only the Xbox that you're having these types of concerns? We wouldn't be able to support any customisations you make to our router or any 3rd party device issues, However the community members maybe able to assist further with any recommendations or set ups that might work for what you're looking for,

Here to help 🙂

Is the poster saying port forwarding does not work on his firmware of VM Hub then? Or are they implying VM's routing is not working since his reported "breakage on local hub"? VM know about routing issues as Cloudflare hosted sites and Google/AWS/Azure been broken in some or all areas.

uPnP and Open Nat are security issues waiting to happen, but Xbox works with port forwarding rather then leaving open or relying on uPnP, and from the poster's description he isn't suffering from Double NAT.

Might as well remove DMZ and port forwarding and hell remove modem mode see how long VM last

This issue can depend on your location, it was happening in Lanarkshire on Friday and has been on and off since. VM doesn't seem to be bothering with it or at the very least isn't telling anything that they are doing anything about it.

I'm getting the same with them and my Xbox series X.

As an update, this issue is persisting and I'm aware that there is a growing community of xbox users with this issue, many of which have... Wait for it... VM Internet access...

Sidebar: Discord on xbox 'works', without any connectivity issues. That just seems to have issues with stability, compared to xbox Party Chat.

Are you getting anywhere with this? do you not think VM can solve this?

Thanks for coming back @trvrhalliday 😊 Sorry to see you've not had any resolution to this. Just to confirm, have you been able to set the NAT type to open to see if this helps?

Let us know.

Regards

Nathan
