Changing NAT type for PSN

Hi,

Can someone advise if the NAT type for HUB 5 on ethernet cable is supposed to auto sense and remembers the NAT type?

Playstation network requires NAT 2 or lower to connect. Sometimes it seems to connect with NAT 2 other times NAT 3.

Can this be forced to NAT 2?

I've had a look at port forwarding and the ports my PS5 is using changes with almost every boot so I can't force it consistently. Besides which the port forwarding requires a range, but the port number detected is a single port, not a range.

Thanks,

A better router with 1Gb ports that has many years of NAT designing and testing is what you need to get and put hub in modem mode

      So I keep reading.

But is the Hub 5's NAT type allocation arbitrary every time you power up a device connected on ethernet?

And surely Virgin should provide a router that works with gaming. Gaming is a trillion dollar business these days.

        And yet they can't

we would not be seeing you here if VM did modem only.

.Most VM customers are still using DOCSIS, which wasn't designed for gaming. Why waste money on providing better modems if they are not the limiting factor?

Where are you seeing the port info ?  Can you share that.

  • Playstation ip is xxx.xxx.xxx.50

This list of ports grows every time I start my PS5. It's getting quite long now!

Is there a way of clearing this because I'm expecting the router to fall over if this list gets too big.

  • And this is the message I get if it's using NAT 3 without me checking.
