Eve Online Disconnection Problems Sep 24

Hi

in 2022 i too suffered from the disconnection problem with EVE online.

3 weeks ago it started all over again, and i have spent the last couple of weeks going through my computer, the eve installation and checking everything that the technical people at EVE could think of.

Finally they have come back with nothing wrong with my connection to the broadband, nothing wrong with my computer and nothing wrong with the installation of the game, and that the only place they could possibly see a problem is through the route the info takes between me and eve.

Can you look into it please.

Full diagnostics requested by EVE online are available if needed.

Your trace shows a connection from you to the destination IP address?  This is not showing any problems with the connection.

So that would be [172.65.201.188]

Okay thank you.

What error is it giving you when you try?

Have you tried this from a different browser / device?

Are you getting 504 gateway timeout?

There do not appear to have been any network issues while you were running the test. Additionally we are not seeing any issues within our own network infrastructure that would account for your issue.

EVE, and many other MMO's, use an internet protocol called long-lived TCP connection which is not generally used by other smaller applications like Discord, Mumble or YouTube. This protocol is very sensitive to network interruptions as it can't cache data nor dynamically change if something happens to the connection, resulting in a disconnect. Each client also creates a unique connection to the server, so any packet loss or connectivity issues may not necessarily affect all clients equally.

If you are still encountering this issue then it is more likely that the issue originates somewhere along your connection route rather than on your or our end. If you still suspect server issues, you see the status history of the server by clicking this link.

Unfortunately there isn't much we can do from our side as we have no control over the route your data takes from your ISP to the server. That would be under the control of your ISP.

If the issue persists, I encourage you to take a look at the following Help Center article that may be able to assist you, Network issues.

I regret that I cannot be of more direct assistance in this case, but should you run into any other issues that I am able to assist with, please do not hesitate to contact Technical Support again.

Best Regards,

So the connection is working to the destination IP in the screenshot . What are you questioning?

Eve Online requires fulltime instant communication to the servers, as there is no point in trying to fight with other players if they get an instant response to the data requests and you are sitting waiting while steps on the route time out and it tries to find a new path to the eve servers.

Having been with virgin since it was Blueyonder and played EVE for almost 20 years this is only the 2nd time this problem has occurred, the first was in 2022 and that is available on this forum along with Virgins final fix.

But at the moment it is extremely annoying to be flying in a straight line waiting for the reconnect whilst others are flying rings round you and you can do absolutely nothing about it and end up being blown up.

and that is what i am querying.

The asterisk's in the trace are not routers timing out, they are just set not to respond.  This is quite normal and is not a sign of any problems with the network routing.

I do understand your frustration with this as I also play some online multiplayer games.  However, I don't hold out much hope of VM changing any network routes unless it's affecting many users?
