Hello,
I've had a virgin.net email address (my main email address) for over 20 years, and have received warnings to say my email address is being closed because i do not have virgin media services.
But I have an O2 mobile phone - is that right? Do i have to go through everything that i get to my main email address even though i am a customer?
Thanks
Rob

You need to have a VM broadband account to retain the email

But an O2 mobile phone (part of the group) is not enough?
I would have VM Broadband, but not available at my address

No. The VM/02 thing are really just a marketing badge. They are still separate companies.

Shocking, absolutely shocking

As far as VM is concerned, the email service was a free add-on to theit broadband contracts.
So in their eyes, without paying for broadband you have had a free service for many years.

I am on the phone to Virgin, right now. There are MANY of us in this situation. Maybe you want to call them? I will be making a formal complaint. There's also ofcom.

If you don’t have an active Broadband service with us, then we are very sorry, we can no longer support your email, as per our Terms & Conditions. You need to seek an alternative email provider. New email accounts can be set up in minutes, with providers such as Gmail, Outlook, iCloud. We highly recommend you forward any important emails from your Virgin account to your new inbox.
We will PM you now to discuss this further.
Best wishes.

Without trying to sound too much of an idiot - can anyone show me where in my T's&C's where that would be? That the email service was free? (Can't be 'considered' - way too wooly) and can be taken away?
John, i get you are doing your job, i'm not trying to get at you and if it sounds that way, i am sorry.
But the issue is not creating a new email, yep, that can be done, but when you have had one for many years, and it is taken away from you without an option to retain it, you have to try and go through all of the places where it is registered and used and get it changed? Not the easiest, not always possible within a month too

oh, and was paying for the broadband, and at typically the top level for many years (along with TV and phone), and only finished earlier this year as I had to move out
