I use my Virgin Media email as standby, using Mozilla Thundebird as my main email, emails are fine on the VM and also on my mobile phone, but I am unable to login to Thunderbird for some reason.
We may have a little trouble with this because I am from the analogue era and not fully clued up on IT matters.
I have tried following a couple of youtube videos but that didn't resolve the matter and I note from some posts on here others have had similar problems, but there is not enough detail for me to follow.
I did get to the stage on VM where I had to use anon VM email address to login, but once I saw it would affect all of my VM stuff as well i didn't bother. The problem with dunces is we try to do do things but make matters worse.
Any help appreciated, thanks.

Virgin are moving customers away from using Virgin Media addresses as a customer login as they are no longer issuing them to new customers. If you have changed your login password you now need to login to MyVirginMedia, go into your Account Settings, Virgin Media mail settings & generate a new password for the email account. You cannot use the same for both.

I have hit a problem, after going through the accounts etc etc I am asked to verify myself by inputting another non virgin email address.
When I do this there is a message saying something like because you have changed your VM password recently check my email but there is no message from VM.

Hi @gus0898uk,
Thank you for your posts and welcome back to our community forums. We're here to help.
I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble using the email address/account on a third party mail app/client. Have you also changed the login email address for the My Virgin Media online account to a third party address?
Thanks,

Hi @gus0898uk
Thank you for your reply, so we can best help, is it Thunderbird the only place you cannot log in with this? As you have advised they are fine on VM.

Thunderbird is the only one I am unable to access and the most important one for me. I have an ntlworld and a standby virginmedia.com which I can access via Virgin Media. I have gone down this route several times through emails/accounts etc and come to a halt when a joint VM/O2 window shows that I have to verify my account through an outside email. This stops when it says something about you have tried to access this before. All this turmoil has not affected my emails on my Android mobile.

OK It looks like I have cracked it and I am good to go, thanks to some inspiration from a youtube video.
When I went to Thunderbird account settings I noticed that on imap and smtp it showed virginmedia.com and not ntlworld.com. Once I changed these over to ntlworld, I was good to go. I do have a secondary email ***@virginmedia.com but I don't use that very much. Thank you all for your help.

Hi paul243,
Thanks for your post and welcome back to the community.
Many apologies for any issues with gaining access, to clarify though are you unable to sign in on any other apps/clients too?
Regards,
