Trying to delete NTLWorld account

I have an old NTLWorld email account that i have had for possibly over 20 years. I am a virgin customer but not with the old account I left and rejoined. It looks like the account has been hacked and i cannot log in and if i request a pasword reset it does not recognoise the email address. Is there a way to just get it deleted?
