My Blueyonder email has completely stopped working

My @blueyonder.co.uk suddenyl stopped woirking yesterday. It is asking for a password to connect. Everytime I put the password in, it says it is not recognised. I also can't access my virginmedia webmail as it says the account "may be locked or you no longer have an account with us".

Do you still have a VM broadband account?  If so, log in and check if it shows the email account to be linked to it.

If not, the email has probably been deleted in accordance with its original Ts and Cs.

My name is NOT Alessandro. That's just a tag Virginmedia sticks on some contributors. Please ignore it.

@sunspot72 It the email address concerned is still connected to a current VM broadband account then you need to follow the instructions on the locked page to unlock the account.

Hi,

After generating a new password (through VM), the emails came in, but i am unable to send. They get stuck with the unable to send smtp.virginmedia.com

I'm using mac mail by the way. Thanks very much for your response.

Hi,

Yes, I still have an active VM broadband account and the email is still linked. I managed to get onto the VM site and generate a new password, which seemed to work, as the emails started to come in (through mac mail, which is my main email operation). Now I am just unable to send emails. They are stuck in the outbox and I either get asked to put in the password or try another server. It just isn't connecting to the smtp.blueyonder.co.uk

Hi again,

Yes, the settings were all the same, except for the port number (it was set at 995, I think). I'm using mac mail, so whatever loging details I use to sign into VM webpage/App, I am assuming woukld be the settings to use in mac mail. All very bizarre. Everything was all fine up until yesterday. As mentioned, mails come in, but nothing goes out. Thanks very much for your responses thus far. I think I will have to phone VM.

@sunspot72 It looks like you are still using the SMTP.blueyonder server, whilst this should work with the correct credentials you should try changing it to SMTP.virginmedia.com with your full blueyonder email address as the username together with the generated app password.

Hi Graham,

Thanks for the reply. I am actually using the smtp.virginmedia.com (for outgoing) and po3.virginmedia.com (for incoming), port 465. Whenever I make any changes and save those changes, I am just getting 'username and password are not recognised".
