Cannot access old Blueyonder email

Tuning in

I need access to an older email (blueyonder) for something but I'm having trouble logging in with my old details. When I try with Thunderbird I get the following response:

Unable to log in at server. Probably wrong configuration, username or password.

When I check Virgin Media Mail I get the following message:

Your Virgin Media Mail account is currently unavailable. This is either because your Virgin Media Mail account is locked, or because you don’t have an active account with us anymore. If you have an existing Virgin Media Mail account with us, please follow the steps below, as your account may have been locked as a security precaution.

I still have a Virgin account but none of us use a virgin media email so maybe this is why I can't use this.

I've tried looking through My Virgin Media for anything to do with email management and changed my password for my main login but this didn't help.

This is quite frustrating as I really just need access to this old Blueyonder email for one thing then I'm done.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks, Alex

The fact the you are getting the "account is currently unavailable" error message is a hopeful sign that the email account still exists.

So was this Blueyonder email account set up under your current Virgin Media broadband account or was it originally part of an older, now closed broadband contract?

You can tell with it is linked to your current broadband account by going to the Account details page in your main My Virgin Mediad account. Click on the link Manage other Virgin Media accounts and see if it is listed there.

If it is not listed then that strongly suggests that it was originally part of another VM broadband account. That may cause a problem if that original broadband account was not in your name.

The Forum Team are best placed to help you and one of them will contact you via this thread, hopefully today but it depends on how busy the forum is,

If it turns out that the original broadband account that the email account was linked to is in someone-else's  name then the Forum Team will need to speak to them rather than yourself. That's a GDPR data protection requirement unfortunately.

Hi @alexhighland,

Thank you for your post and welcome back to our community forums. We're here to help.

I'm sorry to hear that you're having some trouble with accessing an email account. Is this email account linked to an account with an active broadband service? If not then it'll typically be deleted within the following 90 days, though in some instances it may take longer. Email accounts/addresses are also at risk of deletion if they've not been used at all for over 90 days.

I've sent you a private message so we can take a closer look. Please respond to that when you can and we'll proceed from there.

Thanks,
