Anyone having problem with their email.

Dialled in

Just can't log on since early morning. It says unavailable at the moment. 

It's tells me to check my setting. Instead should come clean and say it down and apologise

I have just tested and VM email is working ok for me via their webmail service and via the Thunderbird app.

Enter your post code into their Service Checker to see if their any issues specific to your area.

The "Unavailable" error means that VM have locked your email account for some reason. You can usually unlock the account by resetting the password:

  • Sign into the "My Virgin Media" account (not your webmail account) with that email address and the current password.
  • Go to "Account settings" and then "Account details"
  • Scroll down to "Sign in details", and you will see "Password"
  • click on "Edit" on the right hand side and follow the instructions.

Just in case you are not aware, VM now insists that

  1. you provide a non VM email account (such as Gmail for example) to use as your  Username when signing into your VM Webmail and My Virgin Media accounts. They also use that non VM address to send the verification email to reset your password
  2. that you generate a "Mail app password" use in any email apps or clients (such as Outlook) that you use to manage your VM email account.
