Access old NTLworld email

Hi,

I’m trying to reset a forgotten Facebook login but because my username is my old ntlworld.com email address I cannot receive or access the reset link (I didn’t register my mobile number etc etc so that old email is the only option). Is there a way for me to access my ‘in limbo’ ntl email inbox. My email and password aren’t being accepted by VM.

Thank you

That 'in limbo' ntlworld address must have originally been set up as part of a VM broadband account. The key question Is whether that VM broadband account is still live or has it been closed?

If the original VM broadband account is still live then the Forum Team (VM staff who support this forum) will be able to check this out for you. However, they will need to talk to the Broadband contract holder before they can do anything.

If the  original VM broadband account was closed more than 90 days ago then sadly the Forum Team will not be able to help you.  In fact, if the broadband account was closed more than 90 days ago then it is likely that the email account has been deleted by VM in line with the Terms and Conditions of their VM broadband accounts.

One of the Forum Team will contact you via this forum thread in the next day or so and will be able to give you the official answer on this,

In the meantime it would be useful if you could post the current status of the associated VM broadband contract. By that I mean:

  1. Whether the original VM broadband account is still active
  2. Whether or not that original contract was in your name or someone-else's.

Don't post the details of the email address or account number on the forum. if necessary the VM staff will take that via a private message.

Hi @Wilfjac

Thanks for posting and welcome to the community. Apologies for any email issues. Thank you to Coenoby for your advice here, spot on. If the email is not listed on an active account, it should be deleted within 90 days.

I'll send you a PM to check if anything we can do, even temporarily.

don't know if this will help

Hello, Thanks for calling today. Here’s all the info you’ll need to unlock your email account:
Using the My Virgin Media app

  • Open the app
  • Press the icon that looks like a head in the top right-hand corner
  • Tap where it says ‘Account Settings’
  • Six boxes will appear on the screen – if only five pop up, just pull down on your screen to reload the page
  • Hit the icon that says ‘Virgin Media Mail Settings’

Using the My Virgin Media website

  • Head to virginmedia.com/my-virgin-media
  • Log in with your usual username and password
  • Click the button that says ‘Account Settings’ – it’ll be just under your bill
  • Six boxes will appear on the screen – if only five pop up, simply refresh the page
  • Tap the icon that says ‘Virgin Media Mail Settings’

Once the page has loaded, scroll down and press the button that says ‘Generate new app password’.

If you haven’t already done so, you’ll be asked to update your email address to a non-Virgin-Media one – for example, one from Gmail, Hotmail, or Yahoo.

This is a new security feature and can’t be skipped. You won’t be replacing the email account you have registered with us – this’ll just be used for signing into My Virgin Media.

When you’ve updated your email address, you’ll need to verify it. Click ‘Next’, and we’ll email you a six-digit one-time passcode. Pop this into the box on your screen.

You’ll then see a page that gives you some info about the change you’re making. Click ‘Generate’, and you’ll be given a new password – for example, ‘dogs-walk-leash-outside’.

Write this password down and keep it somewhere safe. You’ll need it to grab your emails without using our webmail – for example, through Outlook, Mac Mail or Thunderbird. Any apps, programs or devices you use to read your emails right now will need to be updated with this new password.
