Hi there
I am using the latest version off thunderbird with these settings
Account name ***********.com
your name **********
email address ***********.com
server name pop3.virginmedia.com
port 995
connection security SSL/TLS
authentication methord normal password
Now I have changed my username and password to login to webmail and it works just fine. I also generated the app password to use with thunderbird.
But I get the following error
Sending of password for user ************.com did not succeed. Mail server pop3.virginmedia.com responded: [AUTH] Authentication failed
So anybody got an idea what's wrong and can help me please.

Yes, that is correct. The non VM email address is the username when accessing the account on the VM website but you need to use your VM email address in the settings of any email apps you use.
It does seem strange but T'bird (and all email apps) do not access your VM email account via your Webmail account.
They authenticate directly with the VM smtp and pop3 (or imap) email servers.

Those settings look ok.
The thing I would ask is whether the "User Name" field in your T'bird VM server settings is still set to your VM email address or whether you have changed it to the the non VM address you now have as your VM Webmail user name?
The user name for the account in any email apps you use should still be your VM email address. The non VM address is only used as the user name to access your My Virgin Media and VM webmail accounts.
If that is set correctly and you are still getting that error my first step would be to generate a new mail app password. Then copy and paste it into T'bird and see if that works.
