Hi, I am just looking for a bit of advice. Where I live, we have our cables underground for our internet. Houses were built in the late 70s and then NTL dug up paths etc to install the cables. We have 30 houses on our street and found a notification stuck to a lamppost outside of our house stipulating that LightSpeed networks ltd will be installing a telegraph pole outside our property. They say it’s so they can install FTTP and is cheaper for them to put up telegraph poles than dig up the street. I’m not happy with the idea of this monstrosity being stuck in our street never mind outside my house. What I’d like to know is, what would the likes of virgin do it we needed fibre broadband? I want to go back to this company with an objection and really wanted to see if it’s a necessity they do it this way. Appreciate any help

Most likely VM would use the NTL cables to supply you with a service. I would doubt you would be have any influence at all about whether or not a new pole is installed on your street.
You may want to try to find out where exactly the pole will be placed so it is not prejudicial to any future improvements you might have in mind for your property (such as off-street parking, boundary fencing etc.). You might (possibly) have a better chance of influencing that IMHO.

That’s what I thought. I just can’t believe someone can turn up and put a note outside your house saying they will be installing a telegraph pole when there are non around the local area at the moment. We have a lamppost one side of our boundary and then the other side there is a water main.
I did want more drop curb to widen our drive down the line so maybe that could help
