And remember there will be an automatic price increase in March unless you negotiate that away in advance.

My name is NOT Alessandro. That's just a tag Virginmedia sticks on some contributors. Please ignore it.

Phone retentions and negotiate with them.  You may or may not get a better offer.  You can always leave if you have that option.  After 90 days you will be a "new" customer again.

I'm going to call retentions 30 days before my contract is up, in early January. One of my friends got the same contract as me in December for £39 per month. It's crazy that existing customers get shafted and probably leave it makes no sense at all. I've got other fibre options I'll probably use if I can't get a good deal from Virgin

VM seem quite happy to have a "churn" of customers, as long as the loyal one's cough up and pay the high prices.  All the ISP's seem to run this method and use new customer offers.  I only came back to VM on a Black Friday deal (after 3 months as a new customer) to get double the speed and half the price I had before. Once this offer is up, I'll be off again as the price hike is quite significant.

Is it really a 100% price increase, or the expiry of a 50% time-limited discount?

All your monthly bills & contract show the undiscounted price of your package together with discount details. Does this show your "increased" price with a discount to what you've been paying?
