Contract Price Different to Pre Contract

Hi

Ordered M500 yesterday with a starting price of £20.99.

Received the contract today with a starting price of £21.99.

How is this even possible to get wrong when I've literally signed up less than 24 hours prior at £20.99 starting price?

If anyone is able to assist that would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you Jordan

    Hello jmccabe1993,

Welcome to the Community, and thanks for taking the time to post here on the forums. I’m sorry to hear of the issues that you’re experiencing with your new contract with us and the pricing issue. I'd be happy to take a further look into this for you; however, I would need to confirm a few details via private message. Please look out for my message, and we can get started.
    Kind Regards,
    Steven_L

  • You're lucky. I managed to sign up for 18 months at £28.99 a month.

First projected bill £66. That only took 18 hours to get wrong.

Now sorted. When my contract ends I'm off to join Plusnet with their UK call centres.

Woeful. Looks like ive not got the worst deal ever.

Glad you got yours sorted eventually!

There's a long history on here of contracts not being what was agreed. You may get a VM person picking this up and offering to help. Remember that you have 14 days to cancel if you are not happy, and that only starts after you are connected.

  • By pre-contract do you mean the "Virgin Media Contract Summary Sheet" usually emailed on order and a day or so before the actual contract?

That is an OFCOM requirement to summarize the contract in order to save customers from having to read the contract.

If it is that document that differs from the actual contract, and you don't get it sorted, I would raise an official complaint. I've had the same happen, and it took an official complaint to sort it out.

Yes that is the document I received so glad to hear it isn’t just an isolated issue.
Will look into raising a complaint if it doesn’t get resolved soon.

Just out of idle curiosity, how did you order M500? Was it via phone, one of their weird messaging systems? Hypothetically, imagine one of their call centre workers, incentivised to ‘boost income’, just decides to add an extra £1 onto your bill - possibly you won’t notice it. But if they do that 100 times a month, well then that has to be a bonus for them!

Obviously just speculation - but this does seem to happen with depressing regularity!

Oh and when you do raise a complaint, do expect it to be fobbed off and closed with a resolution which appears to have been written by a five year old and will end with ‘we hope this works for you’. You won’t however get your £1 back!

  • Thank you for all replies and also Steven for sorting out for me. Now all resolved.
