Stream upgrade

I currently have three TV360 boxes and spoke to customer service today enquiring about upgrading to stream.

They advised me that an activation fee of £35 (self install) would apply and I could only have two stream boxes and would need to keep one TV360 box as the master.

Is this correct? I was under the impression I could have up to six stream boxes. I have not heard of the rule that it’s required to keep one TV360 box as the main/master box.

    Welcome back to the Community Forums.

    Sorry to hear of your concerns with what you've been advised regarding our stream services.
    It sounds like you're describing our Flex services, this is where new customers can get up to 5 additional set-top boxes (6 in total). The Flex service is not compatible at this time with customers who already have a TV360 service with us, which I think is why the agents were discussing the TV360 and mini setup with you, rather than the Flex service.

    Apologies for any confusion caused by this.  Should we introduce the Flex services to existing TV service setups, we'll be sure to reach out on our marketing and news channels.

    Please let us know if you are having any further issues or have any questions at all. We'll be here to help on the Community Forums if needed.

      I’m reading more and more that existing customers with TV360 have been able to keep one TV360 and have the additional boxes removed and replaced with stream boxes.

      so I’m guessing this has changed now after the above information.  If I wanted to arrange this, how would I go ahead? I’m guessing a call in to customer service?

        Hi James-28 👋

        As you already have a master TV360 box, you would need to retain this. The functionality of the TV360 Mini boxes, and the stream boxes isn't too dissimilar (as there's only one hard-drive, and that's in the 'master' box.)
        We don't really offer support with package changes via this platform, so you are best off getting back in touch with us via one of our alternative direct contact platforms;

      Flex was a 30-day rolling contract add-on to broadband with one Stream box only, so has this chaged.

  • I believe you can have just Stream boxes these days (in fact in some areas, you have no choice) and I think that is the way VM are heading generally.

    However, if you only have Stream boxes and no 360 box you lose the ability to record, so have to use apps if you're not watching live (with unskippable ads etc.) and lose access to time-shifting of any channels that do not have apps available, for instance, I think some of the sports channels can only be watched live and the programs are only available on demand with a Discovery+ subscription (at £30+ per month). So I guess the big question is why you would want to get rid of the 360 box.
