Mega TV upgrade sending Stream box

Hello,

I am planning on completing an upgrade offered to my mum who is currently a broadband only user to upgrade to Mega TV.

When completing the upgrade steps I noticed the equipment that is being sent is a Stream box. Will all the channels that are available to Mega Tv be available on the Stream box and will this work in the same way as the normal Stream/Flex service works (no coax cable needed and provided via the internet)?

Just wanted to confirm as most articles I've read say Mega TV is only available via Virgin 360 boxes rather than Flex/Stream boxes.

Thanks

  • Stream is now the standard box with all new customers & customers adding TV to their accounts. Mega TV is available on both V360 & Stream.

  • Hi, glad Issueepic got his mum sorted.  My wife is a different problem!

We're in a similar situation in that we have broadband and phone, contract is due to come to an end next month.  We'd like to use Virgin for the TV, but would specifically want a V6 or a 360 box for the recordings.  Currently we use SkyQ which is fine - the wife records her soaps and stuff and it's instantly available on the Q box, fast forward, really straight forward.  No way will she entertain the mucking around between different apps, then have to wait for the ads to finish trying to sell her things.

Spoke to the call centre at Virgin about upgrading but they said they can't supply new customers with a 360 box (broadband since Telewest but still "new" lol).   Do I have to wait till next month and cancel before it gets escalated, or do they genuinely never supply a recordable box anymore?

Once again misinformation by telesales. If you are in a traditional cable area ( like an ex-Telewest area), you can have a recording box. V6 TiVO boxes are no longer provided except for fault replacements, but the V360 box is still available for an activation cost of £50. If the V360 is not being placed within a couple of metres of the hub, you will need a technician appointment to install a new coaxial point for the box.

Thank you nodrogd, that's really helpful ... and very frustrating!  Shame you can't talk to someone with your knowledge who can actually get something done.

We had TiVO a few years ago so all the cabling is in place and a self install would be OK I think.  Thanks again for your insight
