Stream box Power Cable & Plug Missing

Hi, we had virgin tv & broadband installed on Wednesday. The engineer fitted the cables from the stream box straight into the TV. Since last night, we have a message on screen saying plug in stream box via cable and plug adapter into the wall to power it, but we don't have them! Contacted virgin, can't send engineer to sort with plug/cable until Saturday evening!!! I'm furious, any ideas for a temporary fix, I've already tried the USB lead into my phone plug but obviously not powerful enough.... aargh!

Other than doing what you have done, there is not much you can do.  Really the engineer should not have left without doing all the checks IMHO.

As a temporary measure try a USB-C laptop charger that includes a 5V/3A profile and a quality USB-C phone/tablet charger rated explicitly for 5V/3A.

The lesson is never to allow a lazy tech to leave without showing you that your kit works.

Also when you get the official VM plug connect an Ethernet cable from the hub to it.

Thank you, I'll look and see if we have those to try.

We didn't know he'd plugged it into the back of the TV and notched the plug & cable until the next day when the power message came on the screen when it wouldn't work.

Has it changed recently? Mine was a micro-USB at the back of the box.

The box's USB port is to get power from the plug's USB port - and the plug also has an Ethernet port. It's odd as the box has space for this port, so I don't know why VM has done it this way.
