Some headends outside London default to BBC London for channel 101, but may also carry BBC South or BBC South East on secondary channels. See if you have other channels like 858, 870 or 871.

Cable TV regions are based on a franchise network built in the 1990s. The channel allocation all comes down to the local cable headend you are downstream of.

Below is a map focused on the South East. London Region franchises are in yellow, so in these areas you will get London region on 101 & 103.

If you can reply with the nearest large town to your location I will see if any alternate overlap regions are provided by your local headend.

Unlike Sky, Virgin Media is a cable operator and your services are fed over a physical connection between your box and the regional switch/head-end. Thus there's no need for VM to carry every BBC/ITV region nationally, that Sky does.

You can often find neighbouring BBC/ITV regions on EPG channels 85x - your specific variations will depend where in the south you are.
