Which password for Virgin.net emails?

Like a lot of you I have not had access to my Virgin.net emails for a couple of days.  I linked my Virgin / o2 account etc but couldn’t access them via webmail as it says I’m locked out.  Which password should I be using for my email on my phone please?  Is it the original one I have used for years or does the o2/Virgin password I set take over from that?  Whatever I enter doesn’t seem to work?  Have the imap and smtp settings changed for an iPhone too?  So confusing!   Thanks in advance.

  • The VMO2 ID and password are used to access your My VM account and VM webmail.  It is your choice whether you set the same password for the VMO2 ID as used before or chose a different one.

If you are using an email app or client to access your emails you are likely to need an app password, especially if you changed your password when signing into the VMO2 ID.

To create an email app password or update an existing one you need to follow these steps:

Sign into the My Virgin media account for the email concerned with your VMO2ID
    Select Account Settings
    Select Identity & Security Settings
    Select Manage your products
    Select Manage email app password
Click on the blue button 'Get New Password'

Make a note of the generated password.  This is what you use in the mail apps along with the vm email address as the username.
