VMO2 Password Setup

I've run into a bit of a problem with the unexpected change of login details - thanks for the advance warning, BTW. Very considerate.

I've entered my VM email address and old password. No problems with Step 1. I've had a verification link sent to my alternate Gmail email address and created a new password. No problems with Step 2.

Step 3 is now asking me to set up Two-Factor Authentication by setting up a passkey or texting me a code.

I don't have a smartphone, or even a not-smartphone, so biometrics or a text isn't an option. And, surprise surprise, no thought has been given to this apparently unthinkable possibility. End result, I can't change my password and I'm completely locked out.

Any advice on how exactly I can get out of this complete fiasco and regain access to my email and my account?

According to VM you can ignore step 3 if you don't have a smartphone and just use the VMO2 ID with the password and backup email.  If you need to change the password again verification will be done via the backup email.

      Okay. Thanks for that info.

Problem is, leaving it at Step 2 means I still can't login online. And having just turned on my PC and then started up Thunderbird without thinking about it as I always do, it appears my emails are still downloading to my email client and that's obviously using the old password as I haven't changed it there yet. So completing Step 2 of the process can't have updated anything at VM's end.

      Something's not right somewhere.

All steps need to be completed for all changes to be applied.
