VM cut off my access to my @ntlworld.com email address

Same problem here. Over 4 weeks ago VM cut off my access to my ntlworld.com email address (my main one for 25 years). I had done all the setting up of 3rd party email address for the new VM-O2 account etc and all was working fine, then one day it was gone. Over 10 phone calls later and no luck getting them to fix it.

Have just requested a deadlock letter and will take it to arbitration/ombudsman. In the meantime, I've been transferring all my contacts (hundreds over the years) to a new Gmail account and will never go back to the ntlworld.com account after all this. luckily, I have all my historic emails backed up in an email app I use on my laptop. Has been such a ball ache and is taking me tens of hours. I can totally see why VM has such an abysmal rating for customer service and lowest of all telecoms companies by far. Lesson for everyone here though - do not rely on your internet provider for your email (I did, as it had worked reliably for 25 years), get an independent one asap!

  • Dear Peter ,

I am pleased to say that the  communications ombudsman accepted me and opened a case with no requirement for 8 week deadline letter as they acknowledge how difficult it is to acheive any thing with VM  . Go to the ombudsman site and start a case with a few required details  they then phone you in just a few days ....I had a real live human being who has been wonderfully supportive   I urge people to do as I did in similar circunstnces  Best of luck

  • Hi PeterUK72

Thanks for posting and welcome to the community. We're sorry to hear of the email issue. Please can you expand further on this, are you an active Virgin Media customer with the email we're discussing listed on that account?

If so, what happens when you try and access your email, any error messages?

    Best wishes.

Yes, I’m an existing, continuous customer of virgin media since the NTL days, 25 years ago. Now when I try to access my email, I got a message that says my email account is unavailable. I can log into My Virgin Media O2 account fine. Just that I no longer have access to my critical @nylworld.com email account.  It’s been nearly 6 weeks now without email. Virgin have said they are still investigating it. Clearly they do not know how to fix it. As I mentioned, I’ll have no choice but to take this to the ombudsman.

Hey PeterUK72, thank you for reaching out and we are so sorry to hear this.

Did the team raise an IT ticket for you?

If so these can normally take 5 working days but sometimes a little longer.
