Unable to access my (secondary) email account

I am completely at sea over this. We have the new VM/O2 log in system and it is set to the account holder's (my partner's) email address. My email address is obviously different to hers and I now I seem to have no way of accessing it. The only log in now is to her (the main) account. There is nothing in there that allows me to access my emails. I have seen this discussed on this forum with suggested solutions but I do not understand them.

I would be very grateful if I could be given a simple explanation of how I create a log in that allows me to access my (secondary) email account. We have no problem with the primary account as that is accessed by the new log in.

Thank you in advance.

You need to set a VMO2 ID for the secondary account.  Go to mail.virginmedia.com and enter your secondary address.  You should be prompted to set up a VMO2ID using the secondary address.  You can use the same password as you currently do unless you want to change it

As part of the process you will need to specify a third party email address as a backup.  You will need to have this available in advance.

Thanks Graham but that's my problem. I did that the first time I wished to check my emails. I get a  "This Virgin Media email address isn’t valid" pronouncement. Basically, as Markjc says below, this is is a mess.

I even tried signing in with the third party back up email I provided for the main log in. This actually did start a registration process -  but for what? Totally confused, I certainly am - and actually getting quite annoyed.

markwells Do you recall setting a third party email address as the username for the secondary email address in the last couple of years?  If so it is that third party email address that you need to use to access the VM email address in VM webmail and to access the settings pages.

  • If she creates an account on this forum can the issue then be dealt with here rather than having to start a new thread?

Yes, she can comment on this thread and the message will be picked up as normal.

      Many thanks,
