Unable to access my email on my normal laptop

Went to access my emails today - using my normal PC - saved on favourites- I am being asked to my email address in - then I am told with a red warning sign which disappears after a second indicating an error then a blank screen? What can I do - expecting an important email from my pension provider which is urgent - Simon

Would that be the same with Outlook?

I have tried to open outlook on my pc to see VM emails and it keeps asking for a password. Doesn't accept the new password set up yesterday on the VM website.

StephenO  The new password that you set up yesterday is for the VMO2ID and access to the My VM account and VM webmail.  It will not work with email apps such as Outlook. For apps you need an email app password.

To create one or update an existing one you need to follow these steps:

Sign into the My Virgin media account for the email concerned with your VMO2ID
        Select Account Settings
        Select Identity & Security Settings
        Select Manage your products
        Select Manage email app password
Click on the blue button 'Get New Password'

Make a note of the generated password.  This is what you use in the mail apps along with the vm email address as the username.

  • I'm getting all sorts of similar problems this morning. When I try to login to my VM to get my emails it is asking for verification in my secondary gmail then on verification it wants me to set up a new password! Normally I just go to My VM enter my email address and password and it goes to my account from where I just click on my email. Furthermore it is saying that my blueyonder email that I have been using for years is an invalid email address. Feel like I'm going mad!

  • Same issue here and called CS who confirmed a general email and account access issue.

I'vwe not changed my password - in fact the login doesn't even get to ask for a password before the error appears.

Not sure why the forum mods have a different answer ???

  • Yup... That's the same error code I get... IDF-12B... And pretty much the same response from CS... And the usual 'fix' that they are working it and it will take 72 hours  (yesterday it was 24 hours)!

(And the lady I spoke to couldn't tell me as to what the error code might mean... Wasn't on their system!)
