Trying to access email - getting Forbidden message

Trying to access emails and getting the Forbidden message

Have up to date virus check and done all the cookie etc stuff. Tried to access on another device and same thing.

Seen some things about you now have to add another email address to access - confused as surely VM would tell you that before they did whatever they do to your email address and no real explanation of how and why

  • Just to add tried to get help via Chat - hour wait then cut off halfway through though did what they suggested - did work and changed something different to what I wanted. Another hour wait back and forth to be told they can't help and to ring a number that was closed. 

    Seriously do not understand VMs attitude to Customer Service or helping people at the moment - this forum seems to be the only place to get answers and feel for the team having to deal with the fall out from everywhere else!

    Still getting Forbidden lol

      Thanks for posting and welcome back to the community. 

      Sorry to hear of any email issue. To access, please ensure you've changed the My Virgin Media username to a non-Virgin Media email. 

      To do this if not, log in here - virg.in/myVM with the current username and password, then go to account settings, click email and then input a third party email address. Verify the change and that's sorted. 

      How you'd access the emails have changed. Via Webmail, you'd sign in via the third party username/password and then go to the bottom of the page and click emails. You'd then be directed to your mailbox. 

      For a third party client email, you'd firstly sign in - virg.in/myVM and then go to account settings. Click manage my Virgin Media email and then generate app password. On the third party client, you'd use the Virgin Media email and the generated app password to sign in.

      If the mailbox is locked or Forbidden, simply log in online - virg.in/myVM and then go to account settings, manage my Virgin Media email and click generate app password. This unlocks the mailbox within 30 minutes.
