Some ntlworld emails not being received

I’ve noticed certain emails are not coming though to my @ntlworld.com account. Emails from gov.uk chase.co.uk and mymealsonline.co.uk are the domains that I’m aware of not receiving emails from. Other emails come through as normal.

Are those certain emails confirmation emails that have been automatically generated rather than written and sent by an individual in those organisations?

If so, the problem of such emails not arriving in Virgin Media / Ntlworld / Blueyonder  email accounts has been raised on this forum many times over the years. The most recent that I saw related to emails from Sainsbury’s online ordering.

The basic cause of the problem is that organisations usually use third party email software to handle their transactional  emails such as order confirmations and appointment reminders.

Putting it in simple terms. in some cases the authentication settings in that software are not set correctly which results in the emails failing the security checks that VM runs on all incoming email.

As an aside, notification emails from this forum are marked as spam by VM for similar reasons.

Sadly the people best placed to resolve that are the technical support staff of the email senders. However, if you contact the first line support staff they don't see any obvious problem at their end so they always assume the problem is at the customer's end.

Personally, I would suggest that you set up an email account with one of the dedicated email providers such as Gmail, Outlook.com etc . That would be a wise move in any case because, as you are probably aware, VM stopped issuing new email accounts back in mid 2022. They are also actively closing VM email accounts that are not linked to a live broadband account. (I hope yours is!)  So moving to a non VM email email service would seem a good move in the long term,
