Secondary email address stopped working

I am trying to move off my old Virginmedia and ntlworld email accounts. My main secondary account stopped working when I reset the password for the main account. It is no longer listed in my other Virginmedia email accounts. It was in daily use until this weekend. How do I get it back? I need access to it, as when I try to move my email address many of the sites insist on sending an email check to the old address. I used to be able to login as this email address, but now it says that it is not valid. Please help. All the other secondary accounts are still working and I have managed to move most of the information off them already.

  • Also when I try to use web mail all the secondary accounts now have this message: The entered credential or authentication information does not work or are no longer accepted by provider. Please change them.

    Happy to change them if only I could gain access

    All email account now need a third party email address, as they are now “separate” accounts.  They can’t all be accessed via the Primary account anymore.

      I know that, I cannot get access to the account to assign it a third party address. It was working until 14 December. When I used the generated email for the main account, the secondary account stopped working and disappeared from my listed accounts. As I said before I can still access the other secondary accounts though Outlook

        From memory, you "should" be able to log into MVM with each separate email address, and from there is should prompt you to setup the 3rd party email?  If this is not working, then you'll have to get VM to sort it out.  A Mod should pick this up in a few days and discuss with your directly.

  • Yes, it was always registered to my main account, I have not been able to access it since 14 December, it used to have multiple emails sent to it every day. I have moved most of the sites that used this email address to a different email account, but there are some that want to send a check to this account, to make sure that the request comes from a legitimate source, for example Zoom. I have not listed the address here as it is a personal address.

      To clarify, I changed my VirginMedia login email address to an @outlook.com one in the summer. I continued to use the original mail account for email and I can still access this using webmail. The account that stopped working on Saturday was a secondary account. The only thing that changed was that I set up the original email account on my phone with a generated password. Access to all the secondary accounts on webmail stopped working several months ago. However I usually check emails on my tablet and they had continued to work using Outlook as my email client. When I looked on my Virginmedia account this secondary account has disappeared, I have several other secondary accounts and I can still access them using Outlook

        Hey HMParker, thank you for reaching out and I am sorry to hear you are having some email issues, also a warm welcome to the community.

        What type of errors are you getting?

        Have you gone down the forgot password route?

  • Yes I tried to reset the password for the secondary email account and it takes me back to the main screen and asks me to reset the password on the main email account, going round in circles

  • Outlokk is telling me that the password that worked last week is no longer valid, so tried to reset it, then went in to the reset password, sending me to the main account loop. Checked webmail, but all my secondary accounts claim they do not have a valid password, so cannot check there. Logged in to my VirginMedia account and checked whether I could change anything there, showed all my other secondary accounts, but not this one. Plus I tried to delete some of these old accounts and it would not let me.  As I said before this was working until I set up the main email account with a generated password.

  • I am on leave today, so happy to chat if this would resolve this issue any quicker. I am expecting a hospital appointment letter and I am concerned that this may have been sent to this email address

  • Double checked and the last email I have in my deleted items folder is dated 8 December

  • Checked my phone and I had an email from the hospital on 14 December, this was the last item received at 10:37
