Sounds like a similar issue to me. VM told the account holder (mine is a secondary account) that they had deleted the account. When did the issue start?

Very recently. I can still view my recent emails on an email app I am using, but I can only view recent emails on the app. I can't access my older emails view the Virgin Media website as I have done previously. It will no longer allow me to long in with my ntlworld email address. I left Virgin around 6 months ago.

VM’s T&C’s - Mailboxes are deleted after 90 days when leaving. I’m pretty sure that’s still the case.

You should move quickly to get all of your online services moved over to a new email address while you still have some limited access to the old ntlworld mailbox.

We're sorry to hear you're having issues with accessing your emails. As you've mentioned you're no longer a Virgin Media customer, we wouldn't be able to help with getting any access issues resolved. Once your account is disconnected, you have 90 days to move everything to a new email address as we usually delete these after that time.
As you still have some access, it does mean the address hasn't been deleted yet so as mentioned by goslow, use this time to move across anything you need before it's deleted permanently.

The problem with ntlworld mail seems to be continuing. We have 4 ntlworld email accounts. One has been blocked. We reported this and it may be unblocked after 10 days. We will see. The other 3 are unavailable 90% of the time. Then they open briefly, sometimes just to let new mail in. Trying to amend other websites to use a non-ntlworld email address is a nightmare. The majority to not permit this.

We're sorry to hear you're having an issue with accessing your NTL World email addresses. In order to help, the first thing we need to establish is if you are an active, Virgin Media customer. Please confirm if this is the case.
