ntl world email to outlook returned undelivered

I keep getting a response from an outlook address saying the recipient's email provider rejected it. How do I solve this?

Thanks for your patience and for clarifying things.

If you are sending your own ntlworld.com emails from the VM website then you don't need to worry about domain name SPF, Host Name or any thing like that.

Are you still getting the  recipient's email "provider rejected" error?

If so, it's very odd. I have just done exactly the same as you, (sent an Ntlworld.com email from my account on the VM website) and it's arrived straight into the inbox of my outlook.com account. So, as I said earlier, Microsoft don't appear to have an issues with the SPF details of  ntlworld.com emails.

Re the additional explanatory text that refers to SPF. in the error message. It might be useful if you could copy and  paste all that text into a reply post here but please make sure that you edit out any email addresses (particularly the part before the @ symbol) before you post your reply.

As I said earlier, I still think it is something about the specific email you are sending that's causing Microsoft to reject it.

    • Is that email just text or have you added an attachment, or a signature line or copied anything into the email?
    • What happens if you just send a test email with one sentence in to an Outlook.com address, does that still get rejected?

The non delivery message should say why the email can't be delivered.  E.g if it says the mailbox doesn't exist then the email address is wrong.

It says exactly what I said in my post. It can't be delivered because " the recipient's email provider rejected it". I need to know how  I can make my ntlworld address acceptable to Outlook

woodway "how  I can make my ntlworld address acceptable to Outlook"

I have an ntlworlld email account and I have just sent a couple of test emails to my outlook.com email account.

They were received fine which leads me to think that it's not your ntlworld email address that is the reason Outlook.com rejects your email.

It may well be something in the content or something else about that specific email that is causing Microsoft to reject it.

Every email provider runs their own checks on incoming emails to protect their email account holders from receiving scam, spam and phishing emails. Each of them uses different techniques and criteria so sadly it' s impossible to say from that error message what Microsoft are objecting to.

So to find out why your emails are being rejected by the outlook.com server you need to contact Microsoft or it may be worth checking this with your outlook  email contacts who are affected. As Outlook.com users they may be better place to raise the issue with Microsoft

I have an ntlworld email address. Emails to Outlook addresses are being rejected because they fail the SPF test.  I've got as far as working out that I need to add SPF to my domain name. How do I do this?

If you are using an ntlworld email a/c, use the ntlworld SMTP server to avoid SPF issues.

Thank you but I am really clueless about this sort of stuff. How do I do what you have suggested?
