NTL email down
Is it just me or has anyone else lost their ntl email today? My @virgin.net is ok, it's just @ntlworld.com that seems to be down.

I have just checked the webmail accounts for my ntlworld email accounts and they all seem to be ok right now.
Are you trying to access your ntlworld account via the VM webmail account? If so, exactly what error message are you seeing?.
You could try checking the link below to see if VM have any issues in your area, you will just need to enter your postcode and the last name of the VM account holder:

I have just taken a look at your posting history - it makes depressing reading with how often you have been having issues with your VM email accounts in the last few months.
If I were you I would seriously consider switching to one of the many excellent free email services. I have been with VM / NTL for years but never used their email as my main email account. I have accounts with a number of other email providers and I cannot remember the last time I had a serious issue with any of them.
Also, remember that VM stopped issuing new email accounts 3 years ago so who knows what the future will be for the VM email service.

I have using ntlworld.com for over 20 years and yesterday I could not access it via Virgin.com. It said "Forbidden". Not use what it mean. It still work on my Outlook as it's linked to the ntlworld account. I tried to change the password by going into the main page but its now asking for a new email address that is NOT ntlworld.com. So I am not sure what that means, willI loose by ntl acount? How do I get it back?

Virgin Media now insist that you supply a non VM email address, which means an email account supplied by another email provider. If you do not already have one here are some examples of free email accunts that you can set up yourself. https://www.lifewire.com/best-free-email-accounts-1356641

No it does not mean that. However, what will happen is that the new non VM address will become:
VM say that have made that change to increase the security of VM email accounts.

There is no need - as I said, you will not loose your existing VM email account, that will remain unchanged. 😉
The main change is that, in future, to access your VM account on the VM website you will need to enter your non VM email address into the sign in screen rather than your VM email address.
I hope that makes (some sort of ) sense.

Thank you so much for clarifying. I have changed my email to hotmail account now with a new password. I have also deleted history, but I am unable to access my emails. Just to explain I have the main account (acc1@ntl) and also added another account (acc2@ntl). The main account is ok I am able to get to my email and billing etc. with the same ntl email. It's the 2nd account which is showing "FORBIDDEN". although I did change my email and password. Can you please recommend how I can get web access to it? Thanks.
It really, really is time to move on from those old email accounts. The longer you put it off, the more contacts you will have to change.
How are you accessing these accounts. For simplicity try using My VM and Webmail for each account. As noted by coenoby you will need a 3rd party email address for each old NTL mailbox. Once these are setup, you then will have 2 separate 3rd party email addresses to access the 2 old NTL mailboxes.
Do yourself a favour, and as noted by jpeg1 once you get access to these old NTL mailboxes, migrate your emails away to somewhere else that's not tied to any ISP.
Thank you. Yes I will once I get access to my ntl mail box. I have changed my email to a Hotmail address and a new password. I am trying to access via https://mail2.virginmedia.com/ but as soon as I fill in the details it takes me to a page which says "FORBIDDEN". So not sure what is happening....

That means that VM have locked the account and that can usually be resolved by resetting the password.
If you have reset the password it means that the account has still not been unlocked
It is often reported that people have to reset their password more than once to unlock the account. So if you are still getting that error you need to reset the password again. Remember you will need to enter your Hotmail address to sign into your VM email account to reset the password.
Also, once you have reset the password again leave it 20minutes or so before trying to sign in again, that may help.
