Mail delivery failed because of Threat Network List

I have just tried sending an email to a user @tiscali.co.uk but it was returned with the following message:

host mx004.tt.xion.oxcs.net [135.125.7.164] SMTP error from remote mail server after initial connection: 550 5.7.1 Connection refused - [84.116.6.105] blocked by Vade Threat List - OXSEU001_101 - https://postmaster-oxseu.vadesecure.com/inbound_error_codes/#_101

The linked-to site above says:

Your sending address is listed on the Vade Threat Network List.
This list contains IP addresses which have been involved in spam, malware and/or phishing campains. For remediation, you can fill out a request here.

The "here" link requires me to:

  1. Create an account using a business email and choose double opt-in authentication.
  2. Link all the IPS you use to your account and choose an authentication based on the addresses in Whois.
  3. Create a request on one of the verified IPs of your account.

Since I don't have a business email (as I am not a business!) and Virgin Media IP addresses change every time I log into my computer, I  can't deal with the problem in this way.

I also tried sending an email to my own Gmail address, but this never arrived.

I had recently received a scam email that contained a virus, but this was blocked by my Norton security software, so I don't know if this had anything to do with it?

Can Virgin Media do anything to unblock or delist my email account to correct the problem, so that my account is no longer blacklisted?

Thanks.

It's not your email account that's being blacklisted it's the  Virgin Media (Liberty Global) email server itself that's being blocked.   In this case [84.116.6.105].  So you cannot get that delisted from the Vade Threat Network List via the link in the message.

As a work around you could try sending VM emails from the VM webmail service rather than via an email app or client such as Outlook.

What you can do to speed up that delisting process is to report it directly to VM via their netreport service:

    Go to  https://netreport.virginmedia.com/netreport/  and:
    •    select an abuse type of "Email Sending Errors" from drop down list
    •    select an abuse form of "Other" from drop down list
    •    paste the complete error message into the Log Evidence area
    •    enter your name into "My name" field
    •    enter your email address into" Email address "

That will go directly to the people in VM who are best placed to resolve the problem.

I'd advise that you do that asap rather than wait for a reply from VM staff here.
