Issue with Folders Syncing Across Devices

I have two devices (Windows PC and Android phone) using 'New' Outlook 365 connected via IMAP to Virginmedia. Email syncing works fine.

However the Folders seem to be all over the place and are not replicated correctly across the two devices nor that of the Web portal.

I have tried reordering them on the Web portal and get a message saying....

Error Email folder 'Parents/Mum Claim' could not be created (maybe due to insufficient permissions on parent folder or due to invalid folder name

I have tried reordering and moving the folders on the Windows PC. Although it allows me to do it, as soon as I log out and log back in the folder structure returns to it original state.

On my Android phone the structure is different again from the web and PC and I can't seem able to re order or move any of them at all.

I have checked all my IMAP settings and all seems fine. Tried repairing the Outlook accounts on the PC and Android but with no joy..

Thoughts?

"I have tried reordering them on the Web portal"

As far as I am aware there is non way to reorder folders in VM webmail. The VM portal/webmail does not support that.

Folders or sub folders are simply listed in alphabetic order with folders /subfolders that start with a number listed first in numeric order. The only way to change the order is by changing the name.

In Outlook you can reorder folders by dragging and dropping them as stated here:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/office/change-the-order-of-folders-in-the-folder-pane-in-outlook-f333a1e5-2124-4900-a300-79e9692f085c#picktab=classic_outlook

However, changing the order folders are displayed in Outlook will not change the folder order in VM webmail.

"However the Folders seem to be all over the place and are not replicated correctly across the two devices nor that of the Web portal."

I'm not sure if by "not replicated correctly" you mean that some folders are missing or incomplete or whether it's just the ordering that's the issue. If some are missing that's a different issue altogether.
