Error message when sending email - Mail delivery failed : returned to sender

I've just tried to email a relative of mine this evening but my email was returned by "postmaster@virginmedia.com"

Here is the error message I received:

This message was created automatically by mail delivery software.

You sent the following message, but this message could not be delivered to all recipients:

Subject: test

This is a multipart message in MIME format.  ------=_NextPart_000_004B_01DA3B65.22A3D970 Content-Type: text/plain;           charset="us-ascii" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit  From <my name was here>.   ------=_NextPart_000_004B_01DA3B65.22A3D970 Content-Type: text/html;   charset="us-ascii" Content-Transfer-Encoding: q

The following addresses failed:

    <My relatives email was here>

host mx.talktalk.net [I think this was an IP address so I removed it]

SMTP error from remote mail server after end of data:

    552 5.2.0 JgerrgBEuLOL8JgerrrWiR Content rejected (TT992)

I have emailed her many times before with no problem whatsoever. The first email contained a word document - that failed twice so I sent a test email with no attachment and a different title, however that was returned too. The error message is the one above.

Can anyone tell me what is happening?

Thanks,

  • Hi there Wozza123 Thanks for reaching out to us on the Virgin Media forums. πŸ‘‹πŸΌ
I'm sorry to see the issues occur with the emails. 😞

Are you able to send an email to that address with an alternate email address and see if that works?
Have you checked other emails to see if your messages go through? Has the recipient advised of any issues with their email address?

Let us know and we can go on from there.

    Kind regards,
    Ilyas.

I have similar issues when trying to help a friend. His account keeps getting locked by VM as so many undelivered messages.
The undelivered messages are not sent by him, so I assume someone is spoofing the address.
Not sure what he can do as black listing virginmedia would not be good.

wjohnm Please start your own thread.  The OP is trying to send a message and getting it bounced.  Your issue appears different as according to you they aren't sending the message. that's being bounced.

Wozza123 It's not Virgin that's causing your issue - looking at the bounce message - Talk Talk are rejecting it because something in the mail body is tripping TalkTalks content filters and causing the mail to be rejected.

Yes I tried that and didn't receive any bounce backs, so it must be TalkTalk.
