Emails on my android phone stopped working

I access my emails via Outlook (new) on my PC and the Mail app on my android phone. All has been working fine for years.

A few days ago Outlook on my PC would not let me access my main ntlworld email account. The account opened for a split second then a pop up box asked for a password. It would not accept my original password. Meanwhile I could happily access all of my emails on my phone.

Reading the advice on the forum I logged into my main VM account, selected my email account where it requested I set up another email to get a verification code which I did. So far so good and I was able to generate an app password. Success, Outlook accepted the new app password and allowed me access.

Some 30 minutes later I could not send or receive emails from my ntlworld mail account on my phone. I updated the password with the same app password and since then I keep getting incoming server errors. I now cannot receive emails on my phone. I have tried to set up my ntl email account on another app and still get the same problem. I have spend all day trying to sort this and am going round in circles. I notice a few people have had something similar recently. Any help greatly appreciated, thank you

  • I have now deleted my ntlworld email account from my phone and tried to add it back on. I get the error

    Unable to complete, cannot connect to server. 

    I wonder if I have been blocked? What a bad day!

      Welcome to the Community and thanks for taking the time to post here on the forums. I’m sorry to hear of the issues that you’re having with your email account. Have you been able to get the issues resolved since you last posted or are you still having issues. If you're still having issues, we do have some troubleshooting tips here.     I am still getting the same problems as are a number of people I notice on the forum who have NTL email addresses. There is something going on here that's not right.

    I can access my main NTL email account only via the Virgin Media main website. (I can only do this after creating an Outlook email address). My other three NTL email accounts can still be accessed via my Web Mail on my phone.

    There is a correlation between having to create another external email address to log in to the Main Virgin Media website, having to generate an app password and these problems occurring. 

    I firmly believe VM want rid of old email accounts like ntlworld and us long time customers are suffering because of it. I have stayed loyal to VM partly because of the enormous hassle it would involve to change my email address.
