Email Password Problem

Hi i have 2 virgin email accounts i've been trying to setup in windows 11 outlook software but every time i try to put my email and password in  i get something went wrong, you may need a app password. I was sure my email password was right but i went into my virgin account and changed the password via forgot password but it still don't work. Any ideas.

    So when you changed the password did you generate a new VM "mail app password"? That's the password you need to update in the settings of your Outlook app.

    To do that:

    1. Sign In to My Virgin Media
    2. Go to Account settings, then My Virgin Media Account details
    3. Tap Manage next to Manage your Virgin Media Mail app password under Virgin Media Mail
    4. Then, under Virgin Media Mail app password tap Get password
    5. Before you continue, VM might ask you to verify your identity – just follow the steps

    Continue the flow and a new secure password will be generated for you

    Update the password in the settings of your Outlook app to this new mail app password

    This password is separate from your sign in details for My Virgin Media (or any Virgin Media apps) and  will not affect your My Virgin Media password. So, if you ever check your Virgin Media Mail emails through the VM website, you will still need to provide your My Virgin Media password not the mail app password.

      Hi thanks for the info, i'm trying to follow your instructions but when i go to Account settings, then My Virgin Media Account details there is no manage. i get this page below

  • Sorry for the late reply, been busy at work. I've noticed i'm still using the .virginmedia.com email as a login. I've tried to change it and it says this below but have not received an email.

    You've recently requested to change the email address you use to sign in to My Virgin Media. Please check your emails and verify this change before making further account changes.

      So you have a 3rd party email setup and it’s this email that is not receiving the verification?

        I have 3 vm email addresses that i use, one is my main one that i got when i joined that is @ntlworld.com and 2 other @virginmedia.com. I use 1 for address i give to just my bank, paypal and sites like that and another i give sites that probably give me junk mail. To log into my virgin account i use @virginmedia.com and not a external email. I've tried to change this to my gmail but i don't get the email i supposed to be sent.

    You really should link seriously about moving to a more reliable email provider. VM clearly have no interest is supporting email for the diminishing number of users.

      Hi voyagerxp,

      Once logged in to My My Virgin Media  here, if you're the account holder, you'll need to head to Account Settings > My Virgin Media Account Details. On this page there is a section 'My sign in details'. Under here you will see the current login username, under email address. Click the edit button.

      You'll be sent a one time passcode to the current username to enter on the next page to verify it's you. 

      Once verified you'll then be able to put in the email address you want to use as the username. 

      Has the above been followed?

      If so, can you please check your junk/span folders incase the mail has gone there?

        I've followed these steps and used my @gmail.com address as my none virgin email but i get no passcode, not even in my junk filter.
