Thanks for reaching out to us not2be, and welcome back to our Community Forums!

Sorry to hear of the issues experienced with the E-Mail account.

Are you an activate subscriber of our services, or is this in relation to an E-Mail account connected to a former account?

      Thanks,

      David_Bn

  • I've had 6 months of VM being incapable of sending e-bills to the correct address.  Then, last Thursday, I too had "server unreachable" when Outlook tried to sync my ...@virginmedia.com main address. After a VERY LONG time on the phone with a VM IT technician, the end result was that I can no longer use my VM main address to log in to my account.  They also did something to my initial 3rd party email address which is now also unusable in VM.  I now have to log in using another, unrelated 3rd party address with a password VM gave me and which I am unable to change so I believe my account is no longer secure.  I currently have a full multi-package with VM.  I am now in the process of changing ALL my contacts to a brand new outlook email account and as soon as that is complete, I shall dump this incompetent useless company and go to the provider I am currently negotiating with.

Even if you stay with VM you would do well to drop their email service as it is clearly not fit for purpose.

      Hi Rich_A500

Thanks for your post and welcome back to our community.

We're sorry to hear you can't log in to your email account.

Could you expand on this please, are you getting any error message?

Please pop back to us when you can.

  • Yesterday my email account disappeared.  I'm still using Windows Mail as I don't want to migrate to Outlook, despite it's constant nagging that I need to do so.  I managed to recover the password and now have access, but the Sent Items folder is now empty.  Not sure if it was a Microsoft problem or not.  I use the Sent Items folder to track conversations of whom I've replied to.  Some messages wouldn't display properly and would be in a download loop prior to the mailbox being unavailable.

I was reluctant to switch to Microsoft Outlook as well, as i mistakenly thought it only covered one E-mail account but found I was was able to set up all my E-mail accounts on it. I still periodically use Mail store to archive all my E-mail.

Outllook works OK and you can delete multiple e-mails with just a few strokes. The only differences is that you get an advert e-mail at the beginning of the e-mail column  every time you open it. and the layout, background and text seem a bit different.

I've just caved in on using Outlook as Windows Mail no longer works and just fires up Outlook.  As stated before I really didn't want adverts in my Inbox.  I've made sure that ad servers do not work over a period of years, resulting in the following error:

        Hmmm… can't reach this page

I blocked the URL in the hosts file and their stupid adverts no longer work.  It seems Microsoft like to waste users time with stupid (b)adverts (often passing off cheap nasty rubbish and scams).  I refuse to take part in their nonsense and further destruction of their (IMO now untrustworthy) corporate image.

Have you checked the folder using web mail? That is the definitive record and will always be more accurate than app folders..

If it's empty, check if the records have mode to a junk folder. Also check if there is in filter set.

    @MrHalfAsleep

The hosts file will help to block display of ads on Outlook, and on other ad servers too since it's not specific to Outlook. But it's only a partial solution to the problems of using Outlook that you mention.

And you didn't mention the biggest issue of all which is that Microsoft uses it to collect data on you and your contacts every time you use it, to add it the pile of data they already have on you and them. That's the reason they provide it for 'free' - you are actually paying for it with your personal data.

You may of course not be bothered by this, in which case both you and MS are happy with the contract.
