Cheapest way keep Email Access

Hi all,

I currently have 500mb BB only, ive been with VM since it was NTL, and have grown quite attached to my ntlworld email address, I mainly use mobile browsing and dont need broadband at home, but, I need to retain access to the email account...  What are my options, my current contract expires in the next few weeks and im starting to get inundated with phone calls trying to give me 1gb BB, a new Modem and a smaller price increase than if I do nothing.

I currently pay £44/month, which is going up to £69, im being offered £45 (24month)over the phone, on the website if I go to renew its coming out at £39(18month)

Ideally Id drop to 50mb or 100mb, and pay ~£20/month? or even an email only account with no broadband/modem and pay £5/month.

Anyone know if such a service exists?

VM only allow you to keep an email address if you remain a Broadband customer. So if you want to keep the address you have no option but to retain one of the Broadband packages. If you cease to be a customer the email account is closed after 90 days.

Just drop your speed then use VM as a backup ISP if your looking for another ISP

Ive tried getting them to drop my speed... it gets weird the price goes up.

      Tonight webchat results below.

Option 1:  - Broadband speed: 500 Mbps  - Standard price: £72/month  - Discounted price: £46/month (no price rise for 2025)
Option 2:  - Broadband speed: 350 Mbps  - Standard price: £69.99/month  - Discounted price: £66/month (no price rise for 2025)
Option 3:  - Broadband speed: 125 Mbps  - Standard price: £57.99/month  - Discounted price: £53.99/month (no price rise for 2025)

VM really know how to do math for something less it seems.

Currently your paying a good price vs me I'm sure VM would like nothing more then to NAT me on there fiber hub with no modem mode support :(

Make sure you have an offline backup of your contacts and important emailed data. It is not safe to rely on email as a permanent filing cabinet, as some have recently found to their cost.

  • Whatever you decide to do you need to make a start on migrating your VM email accounts to a portable provider like Gmail/Outlook /Proton etc. VM has clearly indicated that it is winding up its email provision in due course. In addition migrating email accounts will take longer than you think.
