Cant log in to secondary email address

I have two email accounts associated with my Virgin media Account, one for me and one for my wife. When she tried to access her email she was asked to create a VirginO2 ID and link it to the MyVirginMedia account.

When we did this the link was to my copy of the account. Now my login to Myvirginmedia has changed and my wife still cant access her email since you can only see my email from my copy of the account.

I have looked and failed to find any way of removing her VirginO2 ID from my copy of MyVirginMedia or for her to access her email.

Please help.

  • Secondary accounts used to appear in a dropdown alongside my main account accessed via main login. It now seems if you use the specific secondary email address at first login you can set up the verification, backup email and new O2 linked password. So each email seems to have its own direct login, if you can try this and let us know if it allows you to set up the VMID for your secondary address?

  • I've got a secondary Blueyondner email account as well and thought there may be problems and so it seems. So I haven't tried logging in to it yet.

Having heard what has happened to you I'm going to wait till there is a solution.

  • Hello Steve_R,

Welcome to the Community and thanks for taking the time to post here on the forums. I’m sorry to hear of the issues that your wife is having with her email account at the moment.

Is your wife able to link the account to her email account rather than your account? We do have some more information about this and it can be found here. Please check through the help provided on the link, the section 'How do I manage Virgin Media Mail inbox' and let us know if you need any further assistance.

    Kind Regards,

  • Thank you for your reply. I have read the information in the link but it does not appear to address the problem she is experiencing.

She can't log into MyVirginMedia or VirginMail as they insist on a VirginMedia O2 ID. She can't create one as the creation process asks for account number and area code and this then links the new ID to my copy of MyVirginMedia and my email  not hers, with no way to switch to her email.

  • I have exactly the same issue. Seems to be a system problem- although we are the step behind you.

When I try to link to our Virgin Media account - I get the page saying ‘ We’ve found your Virgin Media account’ and that my email is not the primary email.

I then need to put in the primary email - which is my husband’s.

He gets a email saying that if he accepts it - MY EMAIL WILL BECOME THE PRIMARY EMAIL.  We don’t want this, just to confirm my email.

Do you have a way round this? I have not been able to access my emails since Monday

  • Everything is back working now.

As Robert_P says, Virgin ID now accepts secondary virgin email addresses when creating a Virgin Media O2 ID and links them to your existing secondary email. You still need a non-Virgin email address though, to use as a recovery email as part of the Virgin Media O2 ID setup process. I needed to use an incognito tab when doing the Chrome browser to do this otherwise I went straight into the primary Virgin Media account.

I hope this helps anyone still struggling with this.
