Can’t send email from apple devices

Thursday I couldn’t send emails from iPad or iPhone, still receiving email's, error message (The sender address was invalid) so rebooted all equipment including the router have left it couple of days but still the same problem. Oddly I can fully access my mail from My VM account send and receive fine. I have never had this before any ideas please. I have read the forum pages  and tried some fixes no luck

  • And have you checked the server settings part of your Apple email client so it matches the settings in the section 'Connecting your Email to a Client App'

VM seems to have started enforcing its current settings for email more rigorously so previous/old settings (which may have worked in the past) are no longer working. It is the outgoing SMTP settings you need to check

Thanks for prompt response back in June another helpful person from this forum helped me with my Ntlworld account and we did the app password then do I have to change it again?

Looking back to that last topic, did you succeed in managing to get your old ntlworld address linked/associated with your new VM broadband account in your name?

It’s slightly different you are a genius the default setting forSMTP was primary server smpt.ntlworld.com so I turned that off and now it defaults to smpt.virginmedia.com which had no username or password entered so when I put them in it works. Does this mean VM turned of the smpt.ntlworld.com server off on Thursday?

Not sure what VM has actually done but it has affected lots of users on here. Seems to be something like a case of VM tightening the requirements for the current settings and disallowing older settings (which had worked in the past)
