Blueyonder emails

We are in Australia. Been here since last year. For some reason my blueyonder emails stopped coming in to my mail app from web mail yesterday, that’s Sunday last. Emails are all coming in ok on webmail so not missing out. When I try to download to the mail app I get a message saying my IMAP password and or blueyonder account settings is or are wrong.  I have reset those several times to no avail.Any ideas or solutions please.
The other phone, my wifes is using Virgin web mail to her mail app and is functioning as normal. Has there been or are there still any issues with blueyonder web mails to mail app. I can send from the mail app eg to myself on blueyonder web mail but not back to the mail app. Ideas anyone?

Strange, but I have to ask, are you still a paying VM customer?

The other point, AFAIK, the five word password is "normally" the recovery password for an account, not a mailbox.  Any references to a mailbox, is still a four word password ?  Perhaps a VM Mod can clarify?

      BINGO!

I had to give it a go.

Chenged my email app accounts pw For the first time a FOUR word one.
Everything works except outgoing emails in the MAIL APP send function asking for a password but only with regard to Blueyonder smpt function. Other platforms including web mail eg gmail work fine.

      Thanks all.

Yes I’m a VM paying customer did my sins!

I pay them an I have to do all the maintenance work.

Very strange about the password it was sent by VM a while ago, the second in fact when the first 5 word one issued about a year ago failed similarly.

I’m not going to reset it until back home as I’ll use web mail - unless that fails too. The inconvenience of have to use third party platforms to manage this fiasco is a poor way of engineering this.
I rather get the idea VM don’t want to accommodate old email accounts left over from the acquired ones eg NTL BLUEYONDER etc. That’s my feelings anyway and perhaps someone in the forum teams might wish to comment?
      @Steven_L ?

  • Hello ianjayne,

Welcome to the Community, and thanks for taking the time to post here on the forums. I’m sorry to hear of the issues that you’re experiencing with your email at the moment.

Have you generated a third-party app email password via the online account for your email address? You can do that by following the commands below.

Login > Account Settings >Virgin Media Mail Settings > Manage your Products > Verify that it's yourself via whichever means available to you > Manage email password > Get new password

Please let us know if the above works for you or if you need any further assistance.

    Kind Regards,

    Steven_L

Yes I did (the second one since you changed log in a/c verification matters by the way) and well before we came sway last Dec, whilst it worked up to and including 6 Jan 2026 it no longer does. Why is this please ? Surely I don’t have to keep generating this 5 word password separated by hyphens every so often !
I can access webmail with no issues - yet - but I’m not holding my breath.

  • It’s a five word one separated by hyphens which I have, never had a four word one. It’s been accepted previously.

Are you generating the four word app password required?
